June 2009 La Baraja Farm Visit

Saturday June 19th, 2010

Do not miss this integral CSA experience! See where your veggies come from, how they are grown and meet the farmers that grow them. For a sneak peak, check out last year’s farm visit!

The day will include:

  • Walking tour of the farm led by Pedro Rodriguez
  • Visit with the egg laying chickens
  • Picnic lunch & Fiesta with La Baraja Farm’s Family

La Baraja Farm is located in Goshen New York, 65 miles north of lower Manhattan. We recommend CARPOOLING but are looking into a VAN SHARE or CHARTER as needed. Friends and families are welcome!

9:00 AM: Depart Tribeca to arrive at the farm at 10:30 AM. If this feels early, just think how much our farmers do before 9:00 am everyday!
MIDDAY: Potluck picnic: Bring a sandwich/main dish for yourself plus a side/dessert to share.
3:30 PM: Depart farm to beat traffic and return to Tribeca.

Will you be driving? Please let us know if you have extra room to take fellow members and exactly how many seats. Also, let us know if you have experience driving 15 passenger vans.

The goal is to match everyone who needs a ride into a carpool. If we have more riders than can be accommodated, we will try to rent a van, and these seats will cost approximately $20 each.

  • Lunch: A sandwich/main dish for yourself plus a side/dessert to share
  • Snacks and Drinks
  • Sunblock
  • A sweater or a windbreaker
  • Comfortable shoes and clothes that you won’t mind getting dirty and change of clothes for the kids…black dirt is MESSY!
